Abstract
Fusarium oxysporum is often causes wilt disease in Solanaceae. Controling wilt disease usually utilizing synthetic fungicides and it can leave harmful residues on the plant. Recently, natural fungicides from plant extracts are becoming widely chosen because of its minimum side effects. One of those plant extract which can be easily acquired is black cumin (Nigella sativa). Based on researchers, those seed contains saponin, flavonoid, and tannin substances that are proven to inhibit microbial growth. This study aims to know the optimal concentration of Nigella sativa seed extract which is able to inhibit the growth of F. oxysporum. This study was a true experimental laboratoric with seven variables that consist of two control variables, positive control (synthetic fungicide) and negative control (DMSO 10%), and five kinds of Nigella sativa seed extract’s concentrations, there were 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% , and 90%. This concentration obtained by mixing the extract of black cumin seed with DMSO 10%. The steps of this research were (1) Preparation of F. oxysporum. (2) Preparation of tools and media for fungal insulation. (3) Fungal inoculation of F. oxysporum. (4) Preparation of black cumin seed extraction. (5) Inhibition test of black cumin extract on F. oxysporum. Data analysis using One Way ANOVA with α = 0.05 and followed by Duncan test. The test showed that black cumin seed extract was very significant influence of F.oxysporum growth and the most optimal concentration of Nigella sativa seed extract was 90% with an average of inhibitory zone diameter were 8.8 mm
