UJI AKTIVITAS SEDIAAN GEL RIMPANG TEMU GIRING (Curcuma heyneana) SEBAGAI TABIR SURYA SECARA IN VITRO

Abstract
Indonesia is a tropical country with high intensity of sun exposure. In this sunlight there are UV rays that can harm the body,however it can cause damage to the skin. Temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) contains high antioxidants so that it has potential to be used as a protection to against the negative effects of UV light. Temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) is used in the form of a 1% concentration gel; 2.5% and 5% with gelling agent in the form of carbopol 940 added with other supporting materials. The aim of this study are to determine the antioxidant activity and sunscreen preparation of temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) extract gel and to find out the optimum concentration of extract as sunscreen. The type of research conducted is an experiment. Based on the in vitro test, it is found that the score of % Te and% Tp <1%, so that temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) extract can be categorized as total sunblock. SPF score isobtained from variations in concentrations of 1%, 2.5% and 5% are 4.84, 8.76 and 18.86. From these data it is known that the SPF score increases following the concentration of the convergence of the temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) contained in the gel. In the antioxidant test it is known that all concentrations have IC50 values between 50-100 µg / ml so that temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) has strong antioxidant activity. The best IC50 value is found in temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) extract gel with a concentration of 5% of 86.43086 µg / ml.
