PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH MELALUI EMPOWERMENT MASYARAKAT DENGAN PERENCANAAN PEMBANGKIT LISTRIK TENAGA SAMPAH TEKNIK THERMAL CONVERTER DI TPST PIYUNGAN
Main Article Content
Abstract
The increase in population accompanied by massive activities in education, tourism and government have an impact on increasing the amount of waste generated in the province of Yogyakarta. Trash originating from the City of Yogyakarta, Sleman and Bantul Regencies is accommodated in the Tempat Pengolahan Sampah Terpadu (TPST) in Bantul Regency. In the current condition, TPST Piyungan has overloaded but is still forced to collect and manage waste reaching 400-500 tons per day. The overloaded TPST has begun to cause various problems such as environmental damage, pollution and sources of disease threats to the community. Efforts to manage waste through community empowerment with the planning of Waste Power Plant (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Sampah (PLTSa)) is one of the innovations in the solution of handling waste in TPST Piyungan. The Thermal Converter technique converts waste into electrical energy by combustion which will produce hot steam so that it will drive turbines on the generator so that it will produce electricity. By using the Thermal Converter garbage technique at TPST Piyungan, it can produce 36,287,0064 kWh / day or 1,088,610,192 kWh / month. PLTSa planning includes a spatial design which includes the area of garbage unloading areas that contain compacting trucks and overhead cranes, the area of waste crushing that has waste incision devices, and turbine and generator areas. Community empowerment includes efforts to improve community skills around the TPST Piyungan to participate in waste segregation activities, garbage distribution, and PLTSa technicians responsible for the thermal converter, boiler, turbine and generator stages.
