Abstract

Waste is a major problem that can threaten the safety of the environment and humans because of inappropriate management. In Indonesia, waste is a serious problem that occurs in almost all cities that experience obstacle in management waste. This happens because of low public awareness and lack of knowledge of good waste management procedures. Based on data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, that Indonesia produces 64 million tons of waste every year. And that number will continoue to grow along with the increasing population in Indonesia. In response to this, early awareness about waste management becomes very important. In this paper, the proposed MAPS (Metode Pembelajaran Pengelolaan Sampah) is an idea in the education sector for elementary student, so that they recognize, know, understand, and practice waste management correctly. This learning method as an implementation from an early age through the world of education to the waste problem is growing in Indonesia. This idea can create lessons that are not boring, can increase creativity for student, foster environmental awareness and foster a spirit of entrepreneurship. Collaboration with several stakeholders such as schools, environmentalists, and government can strengthen this idea. With this idea, it is expected to realize Indonesia Zero Waste.
