PERSPEKTIF MASYARAKAT YOGYAKARTA TERHADAP OVERLOAD SAMPAH TPST PIYUNGAN MENUJU ZERO WASTE COMMUNITY
Main Article Content
Abstract
Waste is one of main issues in Indonesia. Integrated landfills are usually become a solution for waste problem. One of integrated landfill in Yogyakarta is TPST Piyungan. TPST Piyungan is located in Ngablak, Sitimulyo, Kecamatan Piyungan, Kabupaten Bantul, Yogyakarta. Since 2019, TPST Piyungan experienced overloading because the large volume of wastes, which come from 3 places. TPST Piyungan may accommodate wastes from Yogyakarta City, Sleman, and Bantul districts. The purposes of this study are i) to know the perspectives of Yogyakarta’s people about overload waste problem in TPST Piyungan and ii) to design zero waste community from their perspectives. The method used in this study is via simple interview, observation, and literature study. Simple interviews are conducted upon people near the TPST Piyungan, online motorcycle driver, a couple of seller from traditional market, a lecturer, college students, and an employee from public institution. The results of this study show that the perspectives of Yogyakarta’s people are quite diverse and later could be analysed in order to synthesize a concept of zero waste community. The representations of zero waste community consist of sanitary landfill system, leachate water treatment, waste separation, recycling post, compost processing across cattle cage, public toilet, and waste power plant (PLTSa). Zero waste community is considered to be very effective to overcome the overload wastes in TPST Piyungan.
