Abstract
One of the problems of developing countries is that waste management has not been going well. Indonesia is one of the developing countries that generally still use waste disposal to landfill, both in urban areas and other areas. Yogyakarta City is one of the areas known as an education and tourist destination city turned out to produce the most waste dumped in the Piyungan Bantul Waste Disposal Site (TPST). The accumulation of garbage in Piyungan Bantul TPST often causes many problems such as scattered garbage, the flow of liquid waste that interferes with community activities, to methane gas which evaporates in the air and gives off a pungent odor, so an effective and integrated solution in waste management is needed. This research uses literature review and literature study methods so that an integrated waste management concept based on sanitary landfilling to overcome the problem of garbage piles in TPST Piyungan Bantul, Yogyakarta and can be a useful alternative energy and energy especially for the community around the Piyungan Bantul TPST, Yogyakarta. The methane gas contained in the garbage piles can be converted into biogas which is then flowed into the houses of surrounding residents as an environmentally friendly source of gas and electricity. Besides, the treatment of liquid waste through a filtration mechanism can make the liquid waste as clean water that is fit for use in agricultural and daily use.
